Overview
We are recruiting for a Trainee Paraplanner to join a very successful and experienced practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management based in Mayfair, London. Role overview In a supporting role the Senior Paraplanner, the Trainee Paraplanner shall provide both technical and administrative support to the Practice. They will work alongside the Business Owner, Financial Advisers and the Practice Manager as an integral part of the team. This role has the advantages of working closely with a very experienced SJP Paraplanner who will share their skills and experience with you as you develop through the CII Diploma Level 4 exams to become a qualified Paraplanner in your own right over a period of time. The role is open to candidates seeking a career in Paraplanner willing to work from the ground up and learn all of the administrative and trainee paraplanner elements required for the role. They will naturally enjoy working in a technical or numerical environment, and have excellent administration skills. It may be that you are part qualified but with no experience, of you may have some experience but without the qualifications - either way, we would like to hear from you. What is most important is your natural attitude, drive and motivation in your work. Role content The role includes a combination of a number of elements supporting the Senior Paraplanner and other supporting team members, including the following. Please note, where required, full training shall be provided: Technical Inputting and submitting electronic business applications when client undertakes an investment, setting up Advice sets and creating illustrations Working with Paraplanner and Practice Manager to deal with all actions arising from client meetings. Obtain quotations from product providers and provide illustrations and product information to the Partner as required. Process applications accurately and record the required management information Prepare portfolio valuations as requested Assisting with dealing with all incoming client queries by both telephone and email. Preparation of New Business Suitability letters, including protection, ISA and pension cases. Issuing letters of authority to Providers and chasing where appropriate Updating CFR with policy information received Keeping up to date with all regulatory and financial market/industry changes. Pro-active and structured approach to supporting the Practice’s technical needs Attend and contribute to regular update meetings with the Partner / Practice Manager Progress applications with product providers, advisers, clients and other third parties to ensure that each case completed in a timely manner Administration Provide administration support to the Partner / Practice Manager / Senior Paraplanner as required Support the day-to-day business operations within the Practice in an administrative capacity Maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, clients and third parties Maintain accurate client information, files / records, ensuring that clients are placed into a review system as agreed with the Partner Keeping Outlook tasks and Work in Progress up to date on a daily basis. Keeping day to day tasks up to date on the CRM system Working closely with PA and Paraplanner to ensure smooth running of business. General requirements Identifying opportunities to improve the client service level for the Practice as a whole Keeping the office area tidy and presentable at all times. Shredding of all confidential information. Adhere to service level standards for the Practice. Assisting colleagues in times of need when urgent tasks are required to be undertaken, and prioritising workload accordingly. Team working. Dealing with incoming telephone calls in a professional and polite manner. Attendance at internal and external training courses/events where required, which may require some travel Personal Attributes Well-presented and professional in approach. Previous financial services background preferable Good basic understanding of financial services service products - Pensions, Investments, Protection A good understanding of what a Suitability Reports is (even if not personally completed them) Willing to study to CII Paraplanning qualification and be Paraplanner 'Accredited’, working towards Diploma qualification. Excellent attention to detail. Good understanding of Excel and use of formulas, graphs etc. Willing to commit long term to the business, becoming experience in the administrative and paraplanning elements of the role Flexible approach to workload & enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be able to deal with HNWI’s at ease and understands their needs. Excellent knowledge of all Office products, Word, Outlook, Excel. Additional information Salary: £20-25K depending on qualifications, skills and experience, plus discretionary bonus Location: Mayfair, London Holiday: 25 days per annum, plus bank holidays (plus time off during Christmas and New Year) Pension: Contributory Pension available - 5% employee / employer contribution. Training: Exam support and training provided to complete the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning - required to become a fully qualified Paraplanner.
