Overview

Key Responsibilities Support Head of Financial Controls in delivering a robust control environment. Accountable for the quality of financial systems and controls. Contribute to ensuring financial controls and systems are robust, fit for purpose and meet relevant statutory and/or regulatory standards. Management of junior Finance team members including organising workflow, reviewing and training. Gain a good knowledge and understanding of the current activities in the organisation and ensure that all financial aspects are considered and properly recorded in the accounting system. Full accountability to ensure the integrity of the core accounting system is maintained at all times, ensuring that interfaces with feeder systems are updated regularly and that bank accounts are reconciled daily, in conjunction with Assistant Accountants. Responsibility to ensure that all transactions are accounted for properly in terms of the double entry and correct postings to the ledgers. Ensure appropriate classification and mapping into reporting templates. Lead the month and year end close process. Ensure control accounts are appropriately cleared and reconciled. Complete balance sheet reconciliations for all entities. Checking that all balances are meaningful. Investigate and substantiate any significant month on month variances or deviations from the expected values. Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are signed off by the Head of Financial Controls promptly after period end. Review of month end files and trial balances. Take responsibility for timely and accurate invoicing to customers and for inter-company recharges. Responsibility of Payments runs and make sure these are done every week. Billing issues to be addressed. Review and the bank reconciliation across all bank accounts Assist Head of Financial Controls in dealing with internal and external auditors. Making sure the audit timetables are adhered to, key deadlines are met and audit queries are dealt with promptly and in line with best practice. Periodically review and update the Finance procedure notes to ensure that all procedures, processes and controls are accurately documented. Ensure adherence to Finance procedures, processes and controls. Make sure efficient and effective processes are in place while taking account of risk considerations. Periodically report on compliance with financial processes and controls, and highlight any areas of risk to the Head of Financial Controls. Provide cover for Finance colleagues as needed. Actively support the X's equality programme, both internally and externally, along with all other corporate policy initiatives, as directed.
