The public sector client is looking to recruit a Geospatial Analyst to work on a 480 working days (2 years) temporary contract based in Porton Down. The successful Geospatial Analyst will have the relevant skills and experience specified below. The successful Geospatial Analyst will have a valid DV Clearance. Please Note : This assignment sits inside of IR35. Job Description; Dstl provides specialist technical advice to the MOD on a variety of intelligence focused topics. This includes the collection, management and exploitation of geospatial data from a variety of sources. The availability of large quantities of commercial and classified imagery data, vector data, text reports and open source material poses a significant opportunity for improving the accuracy, timeliness and utility of geospatial information, both supporting traditional approaches and offering entirely new ways of working. The successful Geospatial Analyst/SME, will help develop, manage and experiment on innovative technologies applied to the geospatial domain, and will also help wider stakeholders in the exploitation and use of these developments including working with customers to identify opportunities and building demonstrators to provide proof of concept. Minimum Requirement: - To act as a Dstl Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical lead on all geospatial analysis matters including providing advice on data, tools and techniques. - Identification of requirements for improvements using technology to improve geospatial data capture, management and exploitation. - Building of technology demonstrators using commercial and open source software. - To support the set up and running of experimentation and demonstration environments Work with partners and stakeholders across MoD - Engage with customers to gather feedback. - Collaboration with other team members to identify potential solutions Other tasks may include: - Support and assurance of industry supplied research - Provide advice on Geospatial interoperability and future trends. - Provide wider support to projects in terms of scoping, delivery and coherence of current and future requirements relating to Geospatial information. Provide advice to the experimentation lead on the design, layout and use cases for geospatial intelligence applications and services. Essential - Experience of working with and effectively communicating with Customers. - Proven record of using commercial and/or open source geospatial tools (such as ArcGIS, QGIS, GeoServer, PostGIS etc) to collect, manage and exploit geospatial data. - An understanding of remote sensing data sources and associated processing methodologies. - Programming and scripting skills using python, java, javascript, R or similar Desirable - Experience of Trial/Experimental design and conduct Security Clearance: DV Please Note: The lower pay rate advertised in this job description is the highest PAYE daily/hourly pay rate that the client is willing to pay up to.
