Data Engineer - £50,000 - £60,000 basic benefits, Birmingham, Insurance Agile / ASP.NET MVC / HTML5/CSS / Web / Applications / Big Data / ETL / Power BI / BI stack / Azure DevOps / SQL / The Data Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of shared service offerings to the Finance Department. Working within an Agile environment, the engineer will manufacture solutions in order that the Finance area are able to work from one source of the truth, moving away from delivery of data from various source and systems. The ideal candidate will also be skilled in ASP.NET, HTML 5/CSS as they will be a requirement to build and manage internal web solutions as part of the role. The candidate will perform analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and support of solutions, utilising innovative applications in Big Data, DevOps projects, models for complex systems and Enterprise integration. Key aspects of the role: Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, derived / or non-derived, insightful data-marts and tables which will be the main input for the models, reports and dashboards Working within an Agile environment, within 3-week sprints, delivering quality data enhancements and reports for the Finance Department. From User Stories, look to provide accurate and timely data, that is trusted and understood by the business. Obtaining, transforming and maintaining large quantities of data. Build internal web solutions, using ASP.NET and HTML 5 to provide the finance function with the relevant tools to accommodate their application requirements Build, support and improve the data infrastructure. Solving data quality issues, providing data lineage from source. Focus on building and improving a self-service BI solution in Power BI. Deliver ETL across data platforms including Snowflake & MS Azure. Maintain data lake solutions. Utilising the full Microsoft BI stack, enable the end user to fully understand the data delivered that allows full transparency back to the various source systems. Skills needed: Background in data engineering with strong SQL skills (5 years) Website design and development using .NET, HTML 5 and CSS ETL pipeline development experience Experience with cloud solutions - ideally MS Azure or Snowflake Experience of Power BI dashboard development Understanding on SSIS packages Building and maintaining SSAS multi-dimensional cubes and tabular data models Experience: Exposure to Snowflake, MS Azure or other similar Data Platforms Agile Development experience MVC with ASP.NET Experience using Web API with ASP.NET core Power BI, including Desktop, BI Service, Apps and DAX MS SQL exposure, including usage on SSIS, SSAS, building and management of stored procedures, views, functions and ETL methodologies.
