Overview

Automation Engineer battery test operation facility (Automotive) Coventry based position Description: With the substantial increase in the development of electrified vehicles, the need for battery testing and development within the automotive industry is becoming ever more essential. You will be part of start-up team setting the operation of the battery test facility up. With the help of the Engineering Team and Operation team, you will be responsible for establishing, operating, maintaining and continuously improving the automation system of the battery test facility. Responsibilities: Support commissioning of installation (climatic chamber, battery cyclers), Write test scripts from customer test procedures, Support in testing activities, including integration testing, Support operator at achieving the tests and work tasks related to the automation system, Support SCADA and LIMS specifications, Support coordination of the IT implementation of the test field management system, Solve problem link to test bench programming and SCADA systems, Ensures high quality and timely Test results reporting to the Engineering team. Provides comprehensive issue diagnostics and resolution to all Test activities. This may require working on live high voltage battery systems - but training on this will be provided. Actively involved in any forensic investigation into element under test or Facility failures, understanding root cause and putting measures in place to prevent reoccurrence. Applies Continuous Improvement techniques in all activities to ensure ever improving operations, processes and Test methods. Experience needed: Moderate level of technical knowledge in electrical/electronic engineering, battery technology and/or vehicle systems. Proven appropriate work experience in a test field, automation system, automotive engineering, automotive repair or electronics is beneficial Moderate level of PLC / Embedded system programming would be advantageous Excellent PC skills with MS packages. Negotiation, presentation and written communication skills, both internal and external to the business. Knowledge of Lithium Ion Cell handling or testing would be advantageous but not essential. Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel for site visits. 8D for problem resolving desirable.
