About The Role The Society’s Procurement Function is responsible for ensuring the Society’s requirements are met through its procurement of goods and services, ensuring value for money is achieved and risks appropriately identified and mitigated. You’ll undertake procurement activities across all areas of IT spend within the Society. Working with the IT Procurement Managers you’ll be responsible for identifying potential suppliers, engaging with suppliers to run RFI and RFP processes and undertaking sourcing negotiations through to contract. Your approach throughout will be to maximise value and innovation whilst minimising risk. You’ll need to work with stakeholders, within both the IT Procurement team and the wider IT and Change Functions to understand the key objectives for the Society in relation to particular sourcing activities. You’ll need to become familiar with the the Society’s Procurement Policy and the commercial and regulatory considerations relevant to IT procurement. Collaboratively working with such stakeholders you’ll seek to ensure that best value solutions are commissioned through a consistent and transparent process in line with the Society’s policies regarding selection and sourcing of suppliers. You’ll also have a particular responsibility for leading the creation of category strategies for specific elements of the broader IT portfolio, with a focus on those elements of the supplier base which have a lower spend within the Society. This is a vital area of importance for the success of the Society’s overall priorities within IT Procurement. From time to time you may be asked to become involved in broader Function wide opportunities and initiatives. As a member of the Society’s Procurement Function, the role also requires you to identify, report and mitigate third party risk in line with the Society’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework. About You You will be educated to A level standard and have relevant IT procurement experience. Having a professional qualification (eg CIPS) would be desirable. You’ll have a good knowledge of commercial models and approaches/techniques necessary to achieve effective IT sourcing agreements. You will be a naturally confident person with a blend of commerciality and numeracy which allows you to quickly understand issues and develop solutions to them You’ll be a practiced negotiator, possess a track record of successfully negotiating commercial arrangements with suppliers, have experience developing specifications and negotiating arrangements with suppliers. You’ll also be competent in developing evaluation methodologies and be able to communicate effectively with strong written, verbal and presentation skills. You’ll work effectively as part of a team and be able to take responsibility for completing matters under deadline.
