Reporting to our Operations Director (who’s just one step below the CEO), you’ll be overseeing a wealth of world-class equipment that spans biotechnology, biotherapeutics, pharmaceutical processing, formulation and materials, photonics, printed electronics and flexible hybrid electronics. That’s just for starters. Of course, you’ll need to put a sustainable maintenance strategy in place and work with your 30-strong engineering team to keep current assets working safely and effectively. But a big part of the role is ‘horizon scanning’. It’s vital that we stay one step ahead of the demands of industry, anticipating the next wave of developments and making sure we’re equipped to help our customers respond. What you need Change is a constant here so, above all, we’re looking for someone with the strategic leadership skills to create and drive forward a new engineering strategy that’s preventative, not reactive. A motivational manager, you’ll build an engineering capability that’s equipped to work with pace and precision whilst never losing sight of SHEQ. No two customers are the same, so you’ll need to convince us you’re sensitive to what different clients need and capable of inspiring a culture of customer focus. You’ll understand what we mean if you’ve worked in a development environment as well as in operations – that would be a huge plus. Beyond that, your CV should have significant industrial experience in a senior engineering position; that includes working on sustainable maintenance and engineering of assets in either the chemical, bio-chemical, pharmaceutical or emerging electronics industries.
