Overview

E-Learning Developer contract vacancy in Birmingham Outside scope of IR35 - 12-month contract Hays IT are working in partnership with a large education establishment in Birmingham to recruit two E-Learning Developers on a contract basis for 12 months. Our client is seeking an individual who has experience of working collaboratively with academic course teams to develop online University-level Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, informed by best practices in online learning and University policy. Main activities and responsibilities: Develop and build online provision within the University's Virtual Learning Environment (ideally Moodle), informed by instructional design best practice, incorporating structures and features which will maximise student success and engagement in online learning. Develop and build online learning content, based on offline course materials, which enhance the learning process in media suited to online delivery, including video, audio, simulations, etc. Apply instructional design and content development principles Apply, and further develop, the University's Principles and Best Practice for Online Learning. Advise colleagues, including academic course teams, on best practices and trends in learning technologies and instructional design, including creating best practice templates and training materials. Support academic colleagues to transfer existing academic learning content to an online setting, providing advice on the suitability of content for transfer. Identify methods for monitoring and reporting on online student engagement, to inform development of the online learning environment. Work with course teams to develop wholly online methods of assessment. Develop and maintain a network of positive relationships with academic course teams, including capturing and solving the Faculty's online learning needs. If you would like to apply, you must have the following skills and experience: Previous working experience in an online learning environment, ideally within Higher Education. Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. Evidence of experience in instructional design and/or content development for online learning. Evidence of a diplomatic and confident approach to handling internal stakeholders through negotiation, conflict resolution and presentation capabilities. Good IT skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, and VLE applications (including Moodle). Knowledge of video capture and editing using industry-standard software, such as Adobe After Effects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with people from both non-technical and technical backgrounds. Desirable: Previous experience with content creation software, e.g. Articulate 360. Previous experience with Moodle virtual learning environment.
