Overview
This is a great opportunity to join a friendly GP Surgery based in Northamptonshire on a long term temporary or temporary to permanent basis. Our client is looking for an experienced medical secretary to provide general secretarial support to the doctors, practice manager and health professionals, involving word processing and audio typing skills with general clerical work using System One. The surgery is preferably looking for someone full time, but there is flexibility. Job responsibilities: · To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. · To make appointments, bookings and admissions as required. · To liaise and arrange meetings (to include the booking of rooms) as required. Attend meetings and take minutes. · To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure. · To retrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical/insurance records. · · To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries. · To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner. · To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required. · To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave. · In liaison with the person responsible, maintain adequate supplies of office stationery in order to perform secretarial duties. · To receive and dispatch mail and maintain a pending system. · Record all the referral letters sent to Northampton General Hospital or other stated hospital, the name of the consultant and the name of the referee. · Prepare invoices, NHS referrals (including Choose & Book), private referrals, DVLA reports, medical reports and general correspondence. · Monitor payment of all invoices and send reminders as appropriate. · Ensure medical reports are scanned into patient's medical records. · Maintain efficient records including copies of all reports and examinations supplied to companies and monitor payment thereof. Liaise with patients and staff with regards to appointments and maintain good records of this. · Send out recall letters as requested, including diabetic clinics, minor operations, GMS2 contract reviews and medication reviews. The successful candidate will possess the following: Must have good audio typing skills with experience in a previous role Must have experience of using System One Previous experience as a medical secretary Preferably experience as a medical secretary in a GP surgery Good communication skills Excellent attention to detail Able to organise and prioritise work OTHER INFORMATION
