Overview

Our client, in Cardiff is looking for a Project Accountant to join their finance team. As the company expands with new contract wins, they are looking for additional resource to work alongside the financial controller. This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic, highly collaborative accountant who will be responsible for the financial reporting and compliance returns for a portfolio of project companies. Key to success in the role, is a strong technical ability to drive compliance and best practice in the financial reporting process. The role will also support the wider organisation on financial issues and project work. The role will ideally suit a newly qualified accountant (with at least two years post-qualification experience) who is actively studying and looking to build their career in a growing company. The role will come with excellent prospects to develop your career. The role will encompass the following duties: Preparing the monthly management accounts, reporting pack and cash flow statements for multiple project companies, providing commentary on performance and variance to budget Managing the reporting finance team to deliver timely and accurate management and statutory accounts Manage the monthly close process Working with tax advisors in the preparation and filing of annual tax computations Inputting into the budget, forecast and business plan process Controlling financial administration matters for the project companies Developing financial policies and procedures and monitoring compliance Lead the development of the financial reporting systems Developing, controlling and implementing effective financial control measures Managing the statutory audit process Monitoring and reporting on loan covenants Managing the accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash management functions, including: o Reviewing and approving weekly payment runs o Balance sheet reconciliations o Cash management reporting o Overhead variance analysis; and o Preparing and submitting VAT and CCL returns Experience required: Be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) Have a strong technical ability Management accounting and reporting experience Working to strict deadlines Strong leadership skills, with some experience of managing teams and coaching staff Highly computer literate: proficiency in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to; Word, Access, Outlook Advanced Excel skills Experience of Microsoft BI and Sunsystems (desirable but not essential) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Have previous experience of budgeting, cashflow management, business planning and forecasting Supports good governance across the business, including highlighting and implementing best practices where appropriate If you believe you would be an asset to our client - please get in touch with us as soon as possible on our usual office number or send your CV to us.
