Overview

Are you seeking night work? What about a night role whereby you could help support someone with learning disability to have a restful and peaceful nights sleep? The feeling of supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities to live a life that makes sense to them is the most heartful and satisfying feeling in the world. And that person making the difference could be YOU We are seeking experienced and non experienced Waking Nights Support Workers for our home in Wigan. Please note, we can only accept applications from males for this role due to the operational requirements of the service. Outline Here we support a young man in his 20s who lives in his own specially adapted home in Wigan , near his family. He has very complex needs, autism and behaviours that can be challenging. During the day, he enjoys anything to do with water play and outings in his car. So because our gentleman has very busy days full of activities, he mainly requires a presence of an evening to help ensure he is settled and happy and unwinding. This may include also being there as an emotional reassurance throughout the night. You'll provide support when he is wakeful at night and checking at regular intervals to ensure he is comfortable and getting a good night's sleep ready for the next day. Challenging behaviour can arise on occasions he is feeling anxious but we will provide you with full training, help and advice from your Head of Service (Frontline Manager) on how best to approach this. What we need from you Firstly, you don’t need experience to become a Support Worker but it’s not easy. The work can be demanding and challenging at times but no two nights are the same and the reward of seeing YOUR personal impact is incredibly inspiring and it’s something you’ll never forget.
