About The Role The purpose of the Production Team Leader is to manage the production resource on a day to day basis to ensure the timely and efficient building of the complete range of Selwood Pumps, in line with the weekly production plan, while ensuring consistency of product Quality and Reliability. General support to personnel to ensure that the area maintains a high standard of housekeeping and that Quality, Health & Safety procedures are not compromised. The main responsibilities are outlined below. This is not a definitive list and other tasks and activities may be necessary from time to time to satisfy the commercial activities required by Pumps Business Unit. To supervise the day to day assembly of Selwood pumps in line with the weekly plan agreed, to achieve efficient utilisation of resource and timely customer deliveries. This shall also include that accessory kits are assembled prior to being needed for Production use or required for spares, or customer orders. To report accurately and effectively on the daily progress of production including any delays and their causes to the Head of Manufacturing, so that adequate decisions can be made to minimise effects on customer deliveries, production efficiency and future production planning. To be the main point of contact for the assembly team during the build process. To communicate with relevant departments in order to identify parts required for build completion. To liaise with Stores to ensure that kits and kit shortages are cleared (subject to availability) in good time for Assembly requirements. To ensure that the Unplanned Issues and Receipts System is being correctly operated, and that Material/Parts are being booked out/in of stock as required. To identify any Parts and Assemblies that require painting and liaise with the Painter and Stores to ensure that they are available and painted in good time for use by production personnel. To ensure operators next jobs are routed to their bays prior to completing job in progress to ensure no time wasted waiting for kits. To maintain suitable stock of consumable materials and tooling, and that systems are in place to ensure that they are re-ordered in a timely manner. To arrange with Inspection for completed Pumps/Pump Assemblies to be inspected as available and to pass signed off Data cards to Sales. To ensure that all weekly inspections (cranes, forklifts etc.) are being carried out in line with Loler requirements. To communicate with Production Engineering any deviations from build specifications, including the raising of MOD requests necessary to ensure that changes/modifications are made in line with procedures. To maintain general discipline of all shop floor personnel (including timekeeping/breaks etc.) and ensure that areas are kept in a clean and tidy state by ensuring that Fitters carry out general housekeeping tasks so that the area is free from unused pallets, cardboard and general rubbish that may accumulate. To assist the QHSE Department in carrying out both Internal and External Audits to ensure that the company maintains its SGS Accreditation To support delivery and deployment of a lean culture and behaviour in the organisation. To suggest any improvements to methods and procedures that may improve Quality, Output and Efficient running of the department or assembly areas. To promote the right employee behaviour and conduct of employees through coaching and mentoring. Experience/Qualifications: Essential: Able to lead and motivate shop-floor personnel Self-Motivated and able to work on own initiative. Knowledge of all aspects of the assembly process and able to identify acceptable levels of efficiency and Workmanship. Preferred : Time served Apprenticeship. ONC in Production Engineering or CMI level 3. An understanding of the Manufacturing Database/MRP System, and familiarity with Microsoft Office (minimum of Word and Excel) Must have a good understanding of company Quality and Health & Safety requirements.
