Our client has a new business requirement for an Infrastructure Engineer and an Infrastructure Team lead (same team) to join them as part of a growing team. This is a rare opportunity to support enterprise scale datacentre services to a range of businesses internationally, utilising best-in-class tech, without having to work for a consultancy What will you be doing? Working within the IT Operations Division, you will report directly into the Infrastructure Manager. You will work with a highly-skilled team responsible for the production and non-production datacentre environments, comprised of substantial AWS, Azure and on-premise estates. You will have the opportunity to work with AWS Redshift as well as other industry leading technologies. Key job functions will include: Technical support of datacentre services at 3rd line level Contributing to the on-call rota as required (1-in-6 week rota…. Not very demanding) Ensuring that all knowledge & information is continuously maintained and updated Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues alongside 2nd line analysts Quickly supporting end-user's efficiency by providing work-arounds and solutions Taking responsibility for escalations from junior IT staff and managing these through to resolution Effectively working on critical infrastructure changes & change management Leading technical projects Delegating tasks to other engineers Mentoring peers on core technologies. Researching and keeping up-to-date with current and emerging technologies The working hours are between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday, working a 35 hours week. Start and finish times are therefore staggered between the team and staff choose what working hours work best for them. Due to the nature of the role you will have a flexible approach to working conditions and working hours to meet business objectives and provide incident cover; 1 in 6 weeks on call (£225 per week, additional pay for being on call and time back in lieu if actually called out). What is our client looking for? As a key technical resource within a growing team of specialists you will have strong, demonstrable experience of supporting datacentres, with a strong understanding and interest in either Azure of AWS. You'll be experienced in training and developing junior IT staff and possess the ability to lead on projects (including managing project deadlines). The team work consistently to a high standard and they are looking for a highly professional, team-orientated and collaborative technical specialist to join them. You will have experience in providing Technical Support (2nd and 3rd Line Support) in an ITIL based environment, with a proven ability to identify and resolve challenging technical problems and sound judgement of when and how to escalate issues. You will work well under your own initiative, managing your own time to meet deadlines. Key to success in the role is strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to excel in customer-facing environments. Technical knowledge is vital so our client would love to see people with: Either AWS or Azure operational experience i.e. implementing, supporting and monitoring cloud workloads Experience of supporting, installing and modifying all version of Microsoft Windows server up to Windows 2019 and standard Microsoft applications Database support such as SQL inc Azure, Redshift etc Experience in installation, configuration and maintenance of Active Directory Services Expertise in Citrix XenApp/Remote Desktop Services Extensive knowledge of VMWare Demonstrable understanding of network infrastructure (Security/DHCP/DNS) Experience of supporting Technical projects Understanding and appreciation of the ITIL Framework Experience of administrating and supporting backup solutions such as Veeam What do you get out of it?
