Overview

IT Application Support Specialist / Southend-on-Sea / £31,371 Your new company Southend Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. The Council are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Application Support Specialist to join their Products team, assuming responsibility for systems stability, maintenance and enhancements of the applications. Your new role As part of the Products team, you will be the Technical SME for a portfolio of applications supporting the Finance, HR and Legal & Democratic Services. You will be applying your technical knowledge and expertise leading implementations of new functionality and acting as an escalation point for queries. Within this role you will be supporting all elements of the application lifecycle from implementation to decommission and providing technical assistance to the Council's customers and third parties whilst continually evaluating and recommending systems or data enhancements to currently existing processes. You will ensure application functionality and systems availability meet the requirements of the Council whilst maintaining a high level of customer support. Your awareness of the customer's environment and technical consideration will enable you to use foresight to anticipate and address any potential issues before they arise. What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you will be highly customer centric, focused on solving business and user needs. You will be self-motivated and proficient in supporting Unit4 Business World or have prior experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle. You will have a working knowledge of business applications, interfaces (including APIs), databases (MS SQL preferred) and business processes. You will have a passion for technology, with broad technical knowledge and the ability to quickly assimilate new skills. You will have a continuous improvement mindset, with a track record of contributing to process improvements. With an eye for detail and a methodical approach, you will use your skills to troubleshoot and investigate system issues. It would be beneficial to have SQL experience which will assist with system diagnostics and sometimes the creation of detailed systems reports. Your experience of working in an Agile development environment coupled with your understanding of the ITIL framework will be beneficial to you. Your ability to communicate at different levels to the technical and non-technical minded will make you an asset. What you'll get in return Offering a salary starting from £31,371 .
