Overview

We require an enthusiastic and motivated band 5 OT to join out OT team. You will be required to deliver Occupational Therapy treatment to a variety of patients across the various service lines using evidence-based/person-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment. Cygnet Taunton provides specialist inpatient services over various service lines. This includes mental health services for acute older adults (men and women), acute care for males of working age, and a specialist male learning disability ward. The hospital is situated in a rural setting amongst Taunton farmland, within acres of peaceful fields. This quiet and tranquil environment offers great benefit to our service users who are able to walk in the expansive hospital grounds and take in the countryside scenery. Taunton town Centre offers contrast to the quieter country life with market places, shopping malls and many other entertainment areas such as restaurants, theatres and cinemas. Day to Day To work closely with the Senior OT and 5x OTAs under the overall management of the Head of Occupational Therapy To develop personal leadership and management skills under supervision of the Senior OT, in order to provide leadership and support to junior staff. To participate in planning, development and evaluation of OT services, holding responsibility for defined projects To contribute to the maintenance and development of hospital wide OT service. Complete full assessments of patients’ occupational performance including areas of self-care, productivity and leisure whilst utilising standardised and non-standardised tools Implement core group and individual treatments to achieve therapeutic goals Contribute to all aspects of risk assessment and management, within your clinical area Evaluate and modify interventions, utilising appropriate outcome measures You will have A degree / postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy Registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and membership of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy) Recently completed your Occupational Therapy studies and seeking a Newly Qualified role or currently working as a Band 5 OT Some experience or a passion for working within the mental health field (predominantly male client group) An understanding of Occupational Therapy process and interventions in a mental health care inpatient setting The ability to work independently and as part of an multi-disciplinary team Why Cygnet?
