Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Support Workers at our new service which will be opening at Shepherd Court in Rochdale in the New Year. Shepherd Court consists of 20 self-contained flats for homeless single males and females, or couples and a family home which we a re keen to use to enable us to support homeless families. We will be working to support people to move on into suitable permanent accommodation. YOUR ROLE We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about working with and empowering those who are experiencing homelessness - this is very important to us You will ideally have experience and understanding of the barriers to housing and the issues which they may face, including substance misuse, offending behaviour and mental health issues. You will carry out ongoing assessments of customers needs through a person centred support plan, linking them into other services and support as necessary to help them to prepare to live independently and maintain their accommodation. The role involves working 2 weekends in 4 and shifts of 8am - 4pm and 12pm - 8pm. ABOUT YOU You will become a significant part of the team and be highly regarded asset to our service, you will value a person-centred approach to support and be enthusiastic about promoting the wellbeing and independence of all the clients we support. You will have the ability to work under pressure, in a fast paced environment and be able to manage challenging situations. You will be committed to the organisation’s ethos and bring enthusiasm and willingness to practical tasks. You will have the ability to maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with clients at all times. You will have some proven experience in working with vulnerable people and/or those with multiple and complex needs and a good understanding of promoting independence. You will have demonstrable knowledge of homelessness, housing and welfare benefits and an experience of working in a safeguarding framework. You will be able to work on your own initiative and be confident to lone work when required. You will bring commitment to providing a quality service that our clients need. You will have excellent communication, IT and customer service skills and the organisational skills required to deal with a varied range of administrative issues.
