Overview
Quality Manager Location: Leeds, LS11 9RU Salary: Dependent on experience Hours of Work: Full time, 37.5 per week About the Company: Our client is focused on delivering the highest level of quality and consistency across the entire business. This crucially starts within production of their beer and is a vital element to them achieving their goal - to create the best beer experiences in the world, growing in stature as they grow in scale. This role is critical to achieving this goal & to shaping the experience for the beer drinker. As the Quality Manager, you need to set the standard for what quality means to them, and enabling the production teams with appropriate specs, tools and tracking to deliver the best quality product. They are also looking for a Quality Manager that will bring an innovative, creative mindset to match their thirst for constant innovative and trial. Quality Manager Responsibilities: Owner and key responsible for everything Quality related at Northern Monk Set the strategy and plan for the quality department, including but not limited to: calendar, resource planning (equipment, people), key focuses, measures of success and communication/reporting Responsible for working with Brewing, Cellaring & Packaging teams to set quality target specs for our beers and create & implement quality check process/frequency across the production team Responsible for ensuring target specs are met for every beer in line with our quality programme (some examples: EBC, IBU, pH, OG/FG, DO, CO2, Haze, PCR/Micro) Train relevant areas to complete front line quality checks for their area (ex. pH checks in Fermentation, CO2/DO checks in Packaging), and train methods of troubleshooting when out of spec. Consistently reinforce quality across all brewing, cellaring and packaging processes and products. Complete all Quality Checks applicable to the Quality Department & maintain and update QC stock of packaged beer and perform relevant analysis. Demonstrate a high standard of record keeping and data recording & share insights from reports and analysis as required to continuously improve beer quality Where necessary implement SOPs to ensure quality enhancing procedures are documented and put into practice by those responsible. Owner of Brewery Taste Panel, including everything from: Creating and maintaining tasting room layout & equipment Setting up and maintaining tasting application to reflect new beers, updated specs, etc Administering taste panels for the Brewery Record keeping and sharing results and actions from the taste panels Manage multiple yeast strains and mixed cultures and ensure the highest level of yeast health and performance while ensuring we are using the optimal yeast strains for our recipes Through internal quality data/learnings and research, share opportunities to improve our house style: Hazy IPAs/Pale Ales (ex. Haze stability, dry hop profile/timing, carbonation) Ensure optimal style specific carbonation, hopping and colloidal stability across other styles produced in the Brewery. Research improvements in equipment, processes, packing materials, etc and keep up to date on relevant changes to legislation.
