Waste Porter

Morgan hunt are currently seeking a waste porter to work within a leading NHS trust, located in Eastbourne. Duties: To carry out waste collections around the hospital premises. To be responsible for the safe collection of soiled linen from all wards and departments. To collect all health care waste produced on site ensuring correct waste segregation, transport and storage procedures are followed at all times. To be responsible for the collection of dirty mops in a timely manner from the designated collection points. Ensure the use of machinery, and equipment complies with the manufacturer instructions, legal requirements and local procedures. Use approved safe methods and techniques when lifting and handling Wear the uniform and protective clothing supplied in line with the hospital and departmental policy. Report equipment defects and hazards promptly to your supervisor To carry out all daily & weekly checks on all equipment prior to use. To ensure that all waste is handled, transported and segregated according to current policies and procedures. To ensure all waste consignment notes are kept safe and forwarded to the Porter Supervisor/Manager. To ensure that all waste containers are maintained in a clean and wholesome condition. To separate recyclable materials from general waste stream and treat appropriately in line with current practice. To be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of all waste and external soiled linen storage areas within hospital site on a daily basis. To be responsible for maintaining the waste compound in a clean and tidy state. To ensure the waste compound and equipment is secured and locked when left unattended. To be responsible for the cleaning of all waste disposal machinery and equipment. Ensure compliance with the Hospital and Department Health & Safety Policy. Hours: 9AM - 5PM / 5 days a week Monday to Friday Pay: £9.59PH Duration: 3-6 months on going Location: Eastbourne.
