Waste Operative (NHS) Sector: Hospital Job Type: Temporary Duration: 2 to 3 months and likely to be longer Location: Hastings, East Sussex Working days and hours Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm Rate: £9.77 paye inclusive of Holiday pay Monday to Friday 8pm to 6am Rate: £11.00 paye inclusive of Holiday pay Saturday Rate: £11.00 paye inclusive of Holiday pay Sunday Rate: £13.60 paye inclusive of Holiday pay Bank Holiday Rate: £13.60 paye inclusive of Holiday pay Band: 2 Job Overview To be the responsible person for the collection of waste: clinical, household and confidential throughout the hospital site. To ensure waste is transported safely to the designated waste compound. All waste is segregated into the appropriate waste skip/container within the waste compound. Ensure the waste compound is tidy and secure at all times. Key Duties: To collect all waste from designated waste cupboards and return the collected waste to the waste compound/loading bay or skips as directed. To ensure all waste is placed in the appropriate skip/container ready for disposal. Ensure the daily delivery of clinical waste bins is correct and report any defects, discrepancies immediately to the Duty Manager. Complete all necessary documentation (Consignment Notes, Waste Transfer Notes) as required. File all information into designated folders and keep secure. A daily sweep and tidy of the waste compound to ensure no litter, cardboard or other waste is lying about. Ensure that the washing/changing facilities are kept clean by carrying out a clean at the end of each shift.
