Being a Civil Litigation Specialist Prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) means that you will be at the forefront of delivering justice.   This role is one of the most demanding within the CPS. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of expert knowledge of the law within the context of dealing with difficult, serious, complex and/or sensitive civil claims cases made against the CPS or where the CPS is an interested party. Accordingly, previous experience of civil litigation is essential.   In your role, you’ll be required to review and advise on complex and serious cases from pre-action stage, ensuring all relevant material is obtained and analysed in a timely manner, to enable cases to be dealt with as quickly as possible. Therefore it is essential you are able to make effective decisions and provide clear case management strategies.  You will need to be able to demonstrate a high level of oral and written communication skills and engage with senior leaders across CPS and other criminal justice partners and Government Departments.   You will have opportunities to develop your career further including attending training courses and getting the chance shadow colleagues to gain different perspectives.
