The feeling of supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities and autism to live a life that makes sense to them. And seeing the difference that YOU can make is truly unforgettable We love what we do and are recognised as an award winning charity for our passion and dedication. Come and join us as a Support Worker and you'll soon see why. About the role You'll join us as a Support Worker , working across two of our supported living services in Worcester . We have part-time positions available (between 20 and 30 hours per week) which can be discussed further at interview. In these two Macintyre services we support 5 people with learning disabilities. You will play a key part in assisting the people we support here to live as independently as possible. You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them be active members of their local community. Activities might include swimming, walking, bus trips, going to the cinema and theatre, playing and listening to music, shopping or out for meals. Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, some people require help with intimate care or medication. When anxious they can display challenging behaviour and require emotional reassurance and support. We will provide you with everything you need to help people manage their behaviour, including specialist Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training, as well as day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service (Frontline Manager). You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. What we need from you Although it can be helpful if you have experience as a care worker or healthcare assistant, this isn't essential. We provide a full induction and free training programme. People join us from many different backgrounds so don't hold back. What's most important to us is that you share our values, have a positive approach and are willing to learn. It is desirable for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as there are service vehicles, but this is not essential.
