Overview
The Automation Engineering department plan, configure, supply and fit all the engineering aspects of the Ocado Smart Platform into our clients’ automated Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) around the world. We create and manage the detailed engineering plans ensuring efficient and effective delivery for our global clients. Within Ocado Automation Engineering sits the Central Product Engineering team who are responsible for the application, configuration and ongoing life support of our solutions used to power our automated CFCs. The Technical Support Engineer within this team is responsible for providing a centralised, coordinated technical and engineering support function to support the automation design, configuration and implementation of cutting edge, highly automated warehouses around the world. What will you be doing? Respond to and coordinate technical queries, working with colleagues to ensure product knowledge is effectively communicated and maintained for all released products in support of our global projects Coordinate and support automation engineering aspects during design, installation and commissioning phases of international projects Follow and support the ongoing development of a robust system for tracking and responding to technical support queries, moving towards a self-service knowledge base that minimises the number of repeat queries Ensure engineering product and system integrity by collaborating with product engineers from other streams to ensure that any changes or issues in one area do not negatively impact another products or overall system Maintain and communicate product technical documentation for all products handed over from product development (including but limited to Manuals, BoM’s, install guides, PDI & SAT checklists) Support the resolution of engineering product change, negotiating with stakeholders to ensure the necessary resources are available to ensure changes to released MHE products are followed through to completion About you Remote coordination and support experience Proven experience working directly with engineering/development teams Knowledge of automation (MHE) and general engineering Aptitude to debate engineering details with both internal and external parties Excellent attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills IT literate, proficient with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite About Ocado Group When our journey started, we were all about changing the way people shop for groceries. 20 years later, we’re a FTSE 100 business developing our own ground breaking technology, opening multiple sites at an accelerating rate and engaging in exciting new business partnerships around the world Transforming an industry means also transforming the way we do business.
