Overview

We are currently working with our client near Thirsk, North Yorkshire seeking to recruit an energetic and forward thinking Sous Chef for their busy gastro pub set in beautiful countryside. Part of a small group of busy venues, the food style here is based on modern British with some European influences. The kitchen is well equipped and has a stable team in place and are looking for a Sous Chef who can assist the Head Chef with the day to day running of the kitchen and it’s 7 chefs. The hours are 48 per week based on 5 days over 7, unfortunately, there is no accommodation provided so we are ideally seeking local applicants who have their own transport. Candidate Role · Assist the Head Chef with the day to day running of the kitchen, including all admin and due diligence · Work across all sections of the kitchen, providing support and guidance where needed · Adopt and maintain the strict food safety and hygiene protocols · Ensure consistent quality through a hands on approach to prep and service · Assist with the training and development of the junior members of the team · Assume responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chefs’ absence Candidate Specification · Sous Chef experience is preferred, however a strong Junior Sous may be considered · All fresh food background is a must · Due to the location, own transport would be a significant advantage · Must be driven to succeed as a chef and work with the Head Chef to develop the business · Have excellent time keeping, personal and man management skills · Be professional and approachable at all times · Must be confident cooking in a very busy environment The Employer · Busy Countryside Gastro · Part of a small successful group of food led inns · Modern British pub food Candidate Benefits · Well established brigade · Great chance for career progression · Great company benefits · Fast paced challenging environment In line with the requirements of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
