Overview

A International company based in Reading are currently recruiting a VAT Accountant to implement the required VAT procedures in support of the European business. This would be best suited to somebody who has 2 years' experience of responsibility for European VAT / cross border supply of goods. They currently have a turnover of $3.7 billion with 500 company headquarters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, offering products and services that are available around the world. Key responsibilities: Reconcile and prepare VAT reporting for UK & International business, including UK VAT, Dutch VAT, South African VAT, and German VAT returns, Russian VAT and French VAT / registrations, on a monthly, quarterly, and / or yearly basis, with assistance from local external accountants. HMRC contact and compliance for VAT related issues. Intrastat control, compliance and reporting. EC sales listings submissions for the various business lines. Build up and have a good knowledge of Import/Export procedures, regulations and formalities e.g. Commercial Invoices, A.TR Certificates etc. Reclaim of Import Vat for UK (C79) and Dutch authorities (UPS input VAT into NL VAT registration). Be the point of call for all Vat related queries across all business departments. To identify key processes and controls, and ensure they are working effectively and being followed. Identify weaknesses in current practices and make recommendations. Liaise with financial colleagues to identify and understand any financial issues. Involvement with projects and ad hoc reporting. Assist with production of monthly management accounts. (Some month end work and checks e.g. journals and reconciliations) Desired Requirements: ACCA / CIMA Qualified Strong Attention to Detail 2 Years' Experience in European VAT
