Overview
Superb opportunity for a JavaScript Developer to join a mature start-up revolutionising it's $700 billion industry. We're building out a new engineering and product team to help drive a whole host of new features and functionality for our retail platform. A varied role offering influence and input, work will be a combination of proof-of-concept and investigation, planning, design and delivery. We work in small cross-functional product squads, where everything is up for grabs and projects are complex and challenging. Coding will be front-end heavy using React with the opportunity to learn Python. We're looking at soon implementing Relay and GraphQL which you'll be a part of. We don't have a DevOps function so Engineers own code from inception through to deployment with CircleCI. Testing wise we use Pytest and Jest and run TDD as much as we can. We hold weekly tech catchups, which are an avenue for team members to pitch and implement ideas and help shape design. On occasion you'll also have the opportunity to contribute your thoughts and expertise to our high-level architecture meeting. We're big fans of Agile working and you'll be proactive in the various ceremonies we run. In terms of what we need, you'll be a Software Engineer with strong front-end skills although we're flexible on specific framework (or not) experience. You'll be used to working on products with complexity around user base, data, integrations or security etc. rather than more basic website development. Taking ownership, having input, running high-quality testing - particularly unit - will be important to you. There are big plans in place for growth across engineering and as internal promotion is always the preferred option for moving into more senior roles, there will be ample opportunities for progression.
