Overview

We are currently looking to recruit a part time support worker to provide one to one support for a 26-year-old gentleman who has had a Traumatic Brain Injury. The client is currently living in the Redhill, Surrey area but plans to move to the Sunbury area very soon. Normal working hours will be two 8-hour shifts per week on days that are suitable for the client, however some flexibility will be required. The client is independently mobile and requires support to engage in activities in the community, he enjoys going to the gym, playing golf at the driving range and walking and he has a keen interest is cars. As support worker to the client you would be expected to support him to lead a fulfilling life and to actively pursue his hobbies and interests. The client also requires support with completing household tasks, managing appointments and planning and organising. You would be required to work alongside a multidisciplinary team and implement therapy programmes to support the client with his rehabilitation. Key responsibilities · Build-up a rapport with the client and take an interest in his likes and dislikes. · Support the client to remain motivated by always having a positive can-do attitude. · Work as part of a small team, communicating effectively to ensure consistency. · Support the client to research suitable activities and hobbies. · Understand the client’s support plan and all guidance provided by the multidisciplinary team involved in his rehabilitation · Ensure the highest level of care is provided at all times. · Support the client with meal planning and preparation including supporting the client with motivation around cooking. · Support the client to undertake daily living tasks such as laundry and housework. · Support the client to ensure that a good level of hygiene is maintained. · Liaise with Client, family, friends, Case Manager, MDT team and external agencies. · Complete support notes to a high standard ensuing that all relevant information is recorded on a daily basis. · Promote and uphold the privacy, rights, dignity of the Client · Work alongside the multidisciplinary team to develop the client’s independence. · Support the client to plan his diary and ensure that he does not miss scheduled appointments. · Accompany the client to appointments and accurately record the advice given by the medical professionals · Undertake and remain up to date with all required and developmental training. · To participate in the review meetings and contribute to identification of ongoing objectives. PERSON SPECIFICATION Attributes · Experience of caring or providing support for clients with an acquired brain injury · A good understanding of the personal, psychological and physical needs of a client with an acquired brain injury · Ability to follow instructions and guidance. · NVQ/QCF level 2 or above in health and social care · Experience of working with clients around the same age as the client · Relevant recent training and experience in First Aid, Manual Handling and Health & Safety.
