Overview
Part time Buyer Up £30k pro rata 25 hours per week Based in Warwick The Company My client is a private limited company who design and manufacture a wide range of sensors, switches and gauges for the control and monitoring of fuel, oil, water and coolant levels and temperatures for OEM customers worldwide. The role This is a new part time role providing tactical direction for the company’s purchasing activities to ensure that the quality, lead time and price expectations of their customers can be exceeded. The Buyer will ensure inventory levels are controlled in order to achieve the stock turn targets. The Buyer will be responsible for: Place and expedite purchase orders for all materials and resources required to meet the production plan. Ensure accuracy of all BoM’s data and MRP related parameters (lead times, min/max stock levels) Ensure parts to the correct specification are available for all assembly operations so that service levels to customers can be exceeded Report on KPI’s for Purchasing Department performance Implement systems to ensure adequate stock levels of all parts are maintained whilst minimising total stock value and write off value of purchased parts Assist with the sourcing activities for new parts and the selection of new suppliers Champion the development of long term supplier relationships Lead initiatives to rationalise the supplier base, establish vendor managed stock, establish Kanban stock control and reduce supplier lead times Constantly strive to improve margin and add value in the supply chain The ideal Buyer will have experience of: Experience of managing purchasing activities in a manufacturing environment Extensive knowledge of MRP systems, database management and complex bills of materials Demonstrable knowledge of forecasting, planning and scheduling Degree qualified, ideally in an engineering discipline Sound technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical components and manufacturing techniques CIPS qualified with understanding of contract law This role will suit an individual who has the drive and commitment to achieve demanding targets within a fast paced production environment, with strong commercial acumen and financially astute and is both resilient and enthusiastic. This is a part time position with flexibility on hours and days.
