We are looking for a Lead Engineer - Product Definition, in our team to support customer projects for a World leading aerospace company to be based at their facility near Derby. Job Summary: As part of the Civil Large Engine Major projects, serving new product Introduction (NPI) and Fleet Programmes, the Turbines Major Project team delivers engineering solutions for all Turbine Blade, Casings, Vane and Liner Segments. This role requires a broad knowledge of a range of engineering disciplines and the ability to lead and integrate specialist teams to deliver integrated solutions on a range of development and in-service products. As Lead Product Definition Engineer, you will engage across functions to ensure Product Definitions are captured rightly and provide integrated, verifiable solutions to meet these requirements. You will be required to liaise with RR Technical leads, Manufacturing Engineers, Designers, Integrators, partners and supporting functions, as a single point of contact to deliver these technical solutions against project commitments. Roles & Responsibilities: Model and drafting as per design requirement Good knowledge of International and Customer specific standards for modelling and drafting. Work with various stakeholders to get the accurate manufacturing and assembly drawings to production. Tolerance stack up analysis and other related calculations. Liaising with manufacturing engineers in DFM assessments Knowledge of manufacturing feasibility Model and drafting as per design requirement Full 3D Tolerance stack up analysis and other related calculations to check fit, form and function Supporting MBD implementation within Turbines Interfacing with Materials specialists for buy-off of material spec requirements Ensure components are detailed within process capability Produce analysis models for stress, CFD and thermal analysis consistently achieve high levels of quality work while working to challenging programme timescales Lead and mentor team by providing technical direction in various tasks related to Product Definition Required Skills (Technical Competency): Good knowledge of International and Customer specific standards for modelling and drafting Strong understanding and accounting of operational, manufacturing, inspection and assembly requirements Knowledge of range of manufacturing engineering processes and understanding of manufacturing processes and capabilities DFM, DFA, DFMEA methodology Demonstrate a good understanding of all aspects of Aero engine Components Strong understanding of GD&T and detailing to ASME Y14.5 standards Desired Skills: Good communication in English (oral & written) & Interpersonal skills Customer focus - ability to build and develop customer & supplier relationships Organisational agility Problem solving ability Logical thinking Effective time management Results driven outlook DISCLAIMER: Due to the nature of work candidates should be UK citizen/ EU Citizen/ Valid work permit holder.
