Bridge Engineering Team Leader

Job Summary The Structures Team Leader role is in our clients Structures Design Team - part of Highways England South West Region on the South West Design Services Contract based either in Bristol or Exeter. Reporting to the Structures Design Manager your main responsibility will be to manage projects, resourcing and supervise staff in the structures team on Projects and stand in for the Structures Design Manager when necessary. Also, you will work with the team to prepare detailed designs for maintenance and improvement schemes, additionally the Client may request that you also carry out / manage structures scheme identification and study work. Job Details The responsibilities: ·Management and supervision of Structures Design Team members ·Detailed design of maintenance and improvement schemes - Scheme Development Stage 2 (Design and management) ·Cost and budget control including preparation and reporting of cost estimates and scheme Target Sums ·Preparation of reports, drawings, specifications and contract documents where applicable , including oScheme Risk Registers oScheme information documents ·Checking and authorising project documents including specifications and drawings. ·As-built drawings and post completion reviews ·Compliance with Highways Agency and ASC QSE processes, procedures and reporting requirements ·Compliance with Highways Agency performance requirements ·Liaison with the Highways Agency and other stakeholders ·Work with Structures Design Manager regarding resourcing. Additionally, you may need to carry out: ·Structural inspections, assessments and checks ·Structures studies and scheme identification work ·Value management and engineering including early contractor involvement and liaison with Project Managers and construction teams The requirements: Qualifications: ·Degree (or equivalent) in structural or civil engineering ·Membership of a relevant professional institution at CEng (preferable) or IEng of ICE or IStructE with minimum 5 years post Chartership / Incorporated. ·CSCS ·Driving licence desirable Skills and experience: ·Management and supervision of staff ·Experience and ability in carrying out structural inspections, studies, scheme identification, assessment and design work ·Experience and ability in budget management and cost control ·Knowledge and experience of relevant design standards including DMRB and other Highways Agency standards ·Proficient IT skills - including experience of structural assessment and design software ·Detailed understanding of health and safety management and the requirements of CDM ·Detailed understanding of Highways Agency processes, procedures and performance requirements The right person To ensure you're successful in the role you'll need to be able to demonstrate the following qualities and attributes: ·Committed to caring for people's safety ·Good team worker and communicator ·Ability to deliver work accurately on time and within budget ·Technically excellent ·Innovative - ability to identify better ways of working IND123 This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89756866
