Overview

My client based in Hendon, Middlesex requires a metal worker who is use to working in cold and hot steel. Department overview The forge department has numerous processes dedicated to the manufacture of hand held steel products from the raw material all the way through to the finished product. The role Reporting to the Forge Manager You will be using a variety of plant equipment to manufacture these products. Key duties Running of tools and machinery on both hot and cold work processes. Cutting the bar stock, guillotining sheet steel, edge deburring, braising, upsetting and forging. Using an automatic threading machine, grinding blades, heat treatment and finishing operations. The manual handling of raw materials, process media and other related goods. Qualifications Must be familiar and comfortable using industrial equipment. Have previous experience in mechanical manufacturing processes. As a minimum, the candidate must have passed an elementary level of English and maths. Must demonstrate you can speak, read and write English as a primary function to be able to give and receive instructions and communicate effectively without confusion. Skills Be able to follow both written and verbal instructions. Have a natural affinity for all things mechanical. Must be physically fit and capable of lifting 25kg regularly and without any issues. Should be nimble and dextrous with their hands and an eye for detail. Be capable of producing a good repeatable quality work at an efficient sustainable rate. Candidates must be keen to learn, with a ‘can do approach’. Fundamentally believe in a culture of ‘continuous improvement’ and own their responsibilities with a passion. Please dress accordingly with this in mind, e.g. jeans / tee shirt etc Package Duration Permanent with a three month probation period Rate Start rate £9.00 an hour £19,760 per annum Increasing to £9.50 an hour £19,760 per annum upon successful completion of 3 month probation period Bonus: Annual companywide Christmas bonus. Hours 40 Hours a week Times Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm with 15min break and 30 min lunch Friday 8:00am to 2:00pm with one 15 min break in the morning Holiday 20 days per annum plus the 8 Bank Holidays 28 days per annum Benefits State contribution pension and company branded wear and PPE are provided
