Lending Underwriter, Permanent, London Salary £40k-£50k Benefits Our Client are a fast- growing, FCA regulated, specialist lender with private equity and additional institutional backing and a solid network of experienced partners, ensuring their products and services fully support the needs of their customer during a difficult time. The company are experiencing rapid growth and are looking to hire an experienced Underwriter to work as part of the lending operation. Reporting into the CEO and Operations Director, you have the opportunity to join a successful team where you will be supporting the company’s growth plans and strategic objectives, which includes excellent service delivery. You will play an instrumental part in the company achieving their strategic objectives as you will be at the forefront of the business operation. There is a genuine opportunity for the position to develop into a leadership role as you will be the first Underwriter to join the business and you will have the opportunity to help shape the success of the lending operation. The company has a big appetite to continue growing and are on target to double the size of their loan book by the end of this year, therefore this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to show case their skills and join a successful and dynamic company that are growing and where you can be part of that success story and growth. Responsibilities Take responsibility managing the entire life-cycle of each individual case from inception to completion, including liaising with solicitors and clients. Assess client’s background, credit report and financial status. Communicating with solicitors to undertake due diligence on the legal case Assessing client’s documentation including legal documents Undertaking due diligence on complex financial matters, compiling asset schedules and underwriting papers Identifying risks and recommending appropriate mitigation where possible. Ensure all transactions fit within the company’s Credit Policy. Updating management on the status of cases on a regular basis. Preparing summary reports of each case and presenting to the funders for approval where required Ensuring the Company’s compliance policies e.g. AML/data protection etc are adhered to in line with FCA regulations. Experience Min of 2 years underwriting experience, ideally within complex lending and or managing larger cases Excellent communication skills with the ability to present cases to both senior management and partners for approval.
