Private Sector Housing and Enforcement Manager based in East London Your new company This East London based public sector organisation is currently looking for a Private Sector Housing and Enforcement Manager to join their Private Housing and Enforcement department. You will be responsible to provide strategic direction and leadership on all private sector housing issues, including those projects delivered on sub-regional basis, so that they deliver on the organisations vision and corporate strategy in relation to the Borough's private sector housing. Your new role As a Private Sector Housing and Enforcement Manager, you have direct line management responsibility for around 5/6 staff and overall management responsibility for around 60 staff. Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Responsibility for ensuring they fulfil local/borough, sub regional and government private sector housing requirements, this includes the successful operation of the property licensing functions and other legal requirements Establish effective working relationships with other Council Services and local and sub-regional partners to secure positive strategic or operational service outcomes Organise and manage resources to achieve a high-quality service delivery which focuses on the needs of the boroughs residents Take responsibility for the preparations, evaluation and consultation for any new selective, additional HMO and mandatory HMO licensing schemes Delivering on national and local targets Provide effective leadership to the Private Sector Housing group management team and staff to ensure excellent, customer focused service delivery To keep full abreast of all legal and technical developments in the team Attend internal and external meetings when required. What you'll need to succeed To be the successful candidate you will need to have operational knowledge and experience in Housing, Environmental Health, Licensing or similar services. You will also need to have major influences and challenges facing local government and private rented business sectors. In addition to this, expert understanding of the relevant housing legislation and the legislative framework in related areas like finance, enforcement and planning will enhance your application. Furthermore, an educated degree level (or equivalent work experience) in relevant subject and evidence of continuing professional/managerial development.
