Job Purpose We have an exciting opportunity opening up our client in the West Midlands for a HIL Engineer. They still in the process of building/expanding their team in the UK and this a great prospect for someone looking to enhance their career or learn within a fantastic team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining test rigs, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) equipment, models and routines for automated testing of automotive control systems. Personal Specification (i.e. education, experience, skills and attributes) Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline Ideally has certain years of relevant automotive system integration and testing experience in at least two or more areas of MIL/SIL/HIL/PIL/Vehicle setups Hands on experience of Systems targets development and verification. Hands on experience in deriving functional test cases and verification methods based on System level requirements Hands on experience in implementation of MIL/HIL systems using dSPACE, ETAS or similar HiL equipment Hands on experience in real time plant modelling and integration with MiL/HiL/Powertrain test bed setups based on MATLAB/Simulink or similar industry standard CAE tools Working knowledge on rest bus simulation and testing of vehicle networks based on CAN using Vector tools Working knowledge on automated test script development and testing based on ECU-Test, Automation Desk, Python, MATLAB, Test Weaver etc Working knowledge in configuration management tools used for version controlling of Plant models, Test case and other configuration files Experience in LV circuit and wiring harness design and development Experience in on board diagnostics pertaining to Transmission, Engine and E Machine control module Good understanding on vehicle electromechanical systems, including hazardous voltage systems Good understanding on vehicle hydraulics, cooling layout and replicating them in Test bed environments Good understanding on HiL system architecture and troubleshooting Desirable to have experience in Test bed equipment and control systems e.g AVL PUMA, CADET etc Desirable to have experience in Vehicle electrification concepts Maintaining and developing strong numeracy and literacy skills Good logical reasoning Motivation to learn new technologies and employ systems engineering techniques Good verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills to work within a team Main Duties and Responsibilities Providing management of HIL facilities including maintenance and upgrade work Work closely with simulation team to support the integration of new and updated plant models for use with HIL systems Develop and maintain detailed documentation of HIL system hardware and software components Development of automated test facilities including the capability of fault insertion and diagnostic facilities in support of System integration and verification. Perform verification and validation testing on HIL, to include test design, analysis, reporting and issue management. Develop test methodology against system requirements. Automatic test execution and reporting. Develop and integrate real time models along HiL setups in Powertrain, Component and other test rigs Develop new test setup and methodologies to help in front loading the development activities into early stages of V cycle Willingness to work in different test environments (HiL, Component, Powertrain and vehicle setups) Co-operation with the China HIL team to ensure best practice is learnt and applied by both teams. Problem investigation and resolution. Supporting benchmarking and requirement capture activities. Supporting hazard and safety analysis based on ISO26262 Working as part of an integrated multifunctional product team which is responsible for delivering complex projects. Role based in the UK. Occasional travel to other company sites and to visit suppliers is a requirement.
