Soils have never been more important to food producers and land managers, our team is growing and we have an opportunity for a new Soils Consultant to join the Environment Team operating from the Auchincruive Estate, Ayr. With a sound knowledge of the challenges faced by our natural environment and a keen interest in soils and land management, you will be looking to take the next step in your career. Working with the Environment Team, you will be supporting a range of environmentally focused initiatives and consultancy projects, delivering to fixed deadlines and at the highest level of quality. You will be supporting a range of varied consultancy projects within the Environment Team, including the day-to-day administration and promotion of SoilCheck, a service aimed at the non-agricultural industry to assess and report on soil quality. Your organised and adaptable nature means you will also be working on national projects delivered by SAC Consulting, namely Farming for a Better Climate and Farming and Water Scotland. This could see you developing and taking promotional material to a national agricultural event, or helping to provide practical information to enhance farm soils, protect water quality and combat climate change. Working with specialist consultants, you will produce and target information across a range of platforms including our project websites, Twitter and Facebook accounts, making good use of your social media skills. As either a recent graduate or someone who is already working in the land management sector, you will be helping to deliver a range of existing projects and work with the team to develop new work to help farmers and land managers meet our environmental challenges, whilst continuing to build and grow your own consultancy profile. A degree in an environmental or agricultural discipline or similar experience is essential along with an understanding of environmental issues within the rural land use sector.
