Overview
We are delighted to be working with an established software company based in Newcastle who are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Technical Author with high-quality English language skills. Main Purpose of the Role As a Technical Author, you will write instruction manuals and documents such as FAQs for a range of business software products. You will also be working with content management software in order to import, export and manipulate text. Key Requirements You must be able to have mastery of a clear and concise writing style, with an ability to turn technical subjects and jargon into easily understood text. You must also be able to absorb information quickly in order to convert software interactions into user guides or technical manuals. You will also be creating new content for the company’s user guides to new software and features. A grasp of written English is essential to this role in addition to attention to detail as proofreading skills also will be integral to this role. You will also need an analytical mind and an inquisitive nature combined with a technical understanding of the company’s software. You will need to manipulate images in order to enhance users understanding of software, this will require an ability to rapidly acquire user knowledge of existing software. Team working is essential, liaising closely with developers, testers, customer service team and product owners. You will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible attitude and an ability to prioritise and manage your own workload. The successful applicant will, therefore, need to possess the following skills: - Strong English language skills Proofreading ability Technical capability and understanding of software An interest or experience in audio-visual editing capability/videography, e-learning knowledge/authoring experience would be advantageous.
