Overview

IT Recovery Engineer As a recovery Operations Engineer you will be responsible for the proactive and reactive maintenance and management of the storage infrastructure or backup areas, ensuring service levels are maintained and that the storage infrastructure is robust and available. Applies Backup knowledge to solve complex business requirements and is regarded as a subject matter expert in either discipline The role will require a flexible working ethic and a pragmatic approach to IT Support, you will have second or third line support background, and have good customer service and communication skills Key Responsibilities: · Perform a full range of ITIL service delivery skills, e.g. Incident and Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration and Release Management. · Perform Root Cause Analysis where appropriate, propose and implement long-term fixes. · Software lifecycle management – monitor product EOLs, define product roadmap, test and implement software releases. · Hardware lifecycle management - monitor product EOL, define product roadmap, raise business case for upgrades, implement replacement hardware and manage migrations alongside other supported teams affected. · Firmware and software maintenance · Coordinating/participation in service restoration and root cause analysis · Production and review of storage reports · Liaise with key stakeholders/ITO capabilities to resolve incidents · Log hardware calls with vendor for any failed infrastructure · Provides guidance to employees in lower job levels. · Provides technical support and input on the application of technology to a defined business segment. · Proactive management and maintenance of the storage infrastructure · Participation in an on call rota and out of hours work Personal Attributes · Excellent time management skills and have the ability to work in a busy fast paced environment · Ability to work end to end on incidents · Ability to investigate complex incidents with a focus on identifying the root cause · A high level of attention to detail · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Highly adept analysis and problem solving skills · Ability to multi-task and prioritise assigned tasks, problems and requests · Strong understanding of ITIL processes · Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team Responsible for keeping abreast of new/emerging technology · Responsible for design, development, implementation using the Global Engineering specifications, methodology and the practical application of ITIL practices and processes · Desire to change and improve process · Ability to own personal and technical development Technical Skills We’re looking for engineers who have experience in any of the technology areas below: v HPE 3Par v EMC Clariion v HPE XP24000 v EMC Isilon (IOS 7.0 - 7.2) v HPE P9500 v EMC VNX v HPE EVA v EMC VNXe v HPE MSA v EMC Unisphere v HPE StoreAll (X9320) v EMC Celerra v NetApp (7-Mode) v HPE Storage Essentials v NetApp (Metro Cluster) v HPE Storage Operations Manager v EMC DMX v Brocade SAN Fabric v EMC VMAX v HP data protector v Hpe StoreOnce v HPe Store Ever v Cisco SAN Fabric v Commervault v Netbackup v Networker This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89817851
