Senior Network Engineer
Overview
Position Summary The Sr. ECINet Networking Engineer is responsible for supporting all aspects of our global network (ECINet) and reports to our VP of Network Services. The Sr. Networking Engineer is required to multitask in a fast paced and high-pressure environment and have the ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly and efficiently. Position Responsibilities · Implementation: o Deploys/upgrades Network Software (worldwide) and Hardware (UK region) with possible infrequent deployments in other regions such as EMEA or APAC. o Maintain relationships with regional carriers to ensure cost and capacity demands are being met. o Provision network resources to fulfill service purchases. · Maintenance: o Implements changes to network configurations as appropriate. o Applies security and bugfix updates to equipment as appropriate. o Communicates internal and external maintenance events with the appropriate customer-facing teams. o Keep NMS platform(s) performing well and up to date. · Troubleshooting: o Monitors global network performance and identifies causes of outages and performance issues. o Implements fixes and workarounds to issues when appropriate. o Escalates issues to carriers & vendors as appropriate. o Acts as an escalation point to our Global Support Group for ECINet related issues. o Makes recommendations to NOC team with the goal of continuously improving existing processes. · Business Communication: o Provide updates to regional technical and non-technical staff on network product capabilities and possible use cases. o Engage Sales & Sales Engineering staff to create connectivity solutions that leverage the capabilities of the network platform. Position Requirements · BA/BS degree in computer science, business, or related field. · CCNP / MEF-CECP and/or comparable theory & hands-on experience preferred. · Thorough understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts including IPv4/v6, WAN transport technologies, DHCP, DNS, Routing, Ethernet Switching and Firewalls. · Ability to create and maintain network management scripts in Python, Perl, Cisco EEM, and Bash. · Minimum 3 years’ experience working with and managing networks. · CISSP certification preferred. Technical Experience · Minimum 1-year experience configuring and maintaining Cisco ASR/CSR. · Experience designing and supporting networks using the following protocols: RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, HSRP. · Experience configuring and supporting MPLS. · Experience configuring and supporting E-Line and E-LAN service offerings. · Working knowledge of multi-tenant networking concepts including VRFs. · Minimum 3 years’ experience designing, building, and maintaining: o IPSec o End-to-end QoS policies for enterprise networks. · Minimum 1-year experience working with Cisco ACS and TACACS · Minimum 1-year MEF Carrier Ethernet Services Deployment experience. · Ability to rapidly troubleshoot and isolate failures on L2 (Ethernet) / L3 (IPv4 / IPv6) networks using an empirical data driven approach.
