Overview
VAT Assistant Manager We are searching for an experienced VAT Assistant Manager Overall job purpose Working directly with the VAT Partners, Directors and Managers as an integral member of wider VAT team. To provide support to the VAT team in providing high quality VAT technical advice and solutions to both external and internal clients. Responsibilities The role will involve being supervised by senior colleagues. Work will be allocated but it is expected the individual will manage their own workload, take ownership of it and complete tasks. The role will involve providing assistance and guidance to internal RSM teams regarding the preparation of client VAT returns, ensuring information is correct and submitted to HM Revenue & Customs on or before the due date. The individual should enjoy working as part of a team as the role will involve building relationships with colleagues in both the regional and wider national VAT team. The role will involve regular external client contact (mainly at junior but occasionally at a senior level) and the undertaking of supervised work on client assignments (with a higher level of supervision on more complex activities). Liaising with clients on VAT compliance issues will be required, and ensuring that client deadlines are met, whilst at the same time managing client expectations regarding assignment delivery. Assisting the VAT partners and directors with WIP management and billing. The individual will be expected to effectively manage their own time and also delegate effectively to more junior colleagues in the team, giving feedback as appropriate. The role will also involve building an understanding of and complying with the firm’s relevant regulatory requirements and the firm's internal and external procedures and standards. Experience required Previous experience of working at appropriate level within VAT. Experience of a providing advice and guidance within a client or customer facing environment would be advantageous.
