Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the engineering function is run effectively and efficiently to ensure that the Business meets both its strategic and project objectives. What will you be doing… Effectively lead and manage the Engineering Team. Operating with commercial awareness in all dealings and take due account of the overall business perspective. Determine and implement growth strategies for the engineering function. To ensure that all engineering tasks are effectively scheduled and fully meet the demands of the project or task. Responsible for all new product development activities to ensure that all designs are fit for purpose. To provide key management and technical input into all aspects of product design, including design documentation. To be responsible for technical development of new and existing products. To meet financial objectives through the implementation of cost reduction initiatives, forecasting, budget preparation and expenditure scheduling, analysing variances and implementing corrective actions when necessary. To assist and work closely with other areas of the Business to implement improvements. Responsible for the monitoring, scheduling and progressing of all engineering related activities to meet project deadlines. Ensure that engineering development schedules reflect and meet the requirements of the business and to determine and implement corrective action when necessary. To read and interpret standards and ensure products adhere to those standards. We are looking for… Solid understanding of a range of engineering disciplines (Design, Electronic, Electrical and Mechanical). Excellent Leadership & Management skills and experience. Solid understanding of business principals including costs & margins. Manufacturing and process control knowledge. Good understanding of Programme & Project Management requirements. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. Also, Project and design software packages Solid understanding of the principles related to Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) including DFMA and FMEA.
