The role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to be involved in all areas of the practice with a specific focus on the management of our bookkeeping and VAT service, including team and workflow management. In addition, the successful candidate will become an integral part of our future plans for growth, digitisation, increased service offering and advisory services. Investment to facilitate growth plans is already in place and the practice is ready to begin the process to achieve our ambitious targets. Together with the current management team, the successful candidate will be an integral part of an efficient profitable practice, involved in all areas of senior decision making and future focus. Potential exists for investment opportunities and Directorship, should that be of interest. Core Responsibilities The successful candidate will lead a team of bookkeepers to ensure regular monthly bookkeeping and Vat compliance for our client base. The candidate will be responsible for team development including hiring of new team members, development and mentoring of the existing team, and incorporating new practices to aid efficiency and profitability. In addition, the candidate will provide assistance to the personal tax manager and accounts and corporation tax manager when required. Involvement in new client acquisition, business management and client relationships will all be required in the role as the business grows. The Applicant The applicant will be a dynamic and professional, qualified accountant [ACCA/ACA] with 5 years practice experience at management level and a hunger for a rewarding, challenging role with a high degree of autonomy. An excellent understanding of all aspects of VAT is required together with a working knowledge of other areas of taxation relevant to the small business and individual market. Experience of managing teams, client engagement and the ever changing world of digital accountancy systems is also required. Detailed Requirements • ACCA/ACA qualified with 5 years’ experience in practice at management level • A solid understanding of VAT • Knowledge and experience in other taxes relevant to the individual and small business market including PAYE, CIS, Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Residency etc • Proficiency with online accountancy packages such as Quickbooks, Xero, Sage, CCH, Tax Calc • A confident and engaging personality with the ability to cultivate excellent client relationships
