QinetiQ's cyber, information, training, research and experimentation community includes industry leading engineers and scientists who design, deliver and upgrade complex information and data systems, for example providing systems and services which underpin our sovereign capability in defence and civilian information services, as well as bespoke innovative projects, such as simulated and synthetic training systems, complex distributed exercises and unmanned or autonomous systems development. Our activities are pan-UK and international; we are growing globally. Based from Farnborough we are seeking a Programme Technical Lead, including the overall Technical Lead responsible for delivery, maintenance and upgrade of military data management systems that collate, manipulate and distribute data. Information is derived from a number of sources and is distributed via several interconnected systems to end users (air, sea and land operations, both deployed and steady state) where it is used to gain an understanding of the environment as part of their shared situational awareness. You will be a leader in a Systems' engineering design and delivery team, with expertise in delivering data management systems on distributed secure networks, with experience of hardware and software artefacts. You will have interest in technology innovation and experience in designing, building and maintaining bespoke complex systems. You will have, or be prepared to apply for, higher security clearances and be a UK National. You will be able to co-ordinate high-level engineering activities, working alongside customers, stakeholders and programme managers; advising, mitigating risk and delivering solutions. You will have experience of the full engineering lifecycle and be comfortable leading, delivering and reviewing systems engineering artefacts, such as requirements, architectures, designs and interface definitions, integration and verification activities as well as certification and customer acceptance. You will lead and deliver in line with systems engineering methodologies. Key Responsibilities • Lead or be part of a technical team, devising and delivering solutions using sound technical, management, leadership and professional skills. • Definition and delivery of technical work plan, systems requirements, resources and tasks, working with the programme manager on schedule, budget, risks, dependencies and constraints. • Embed systems engineering methodology and best practise in programme technical delivery. • Proactively contribute to the development of the secure networks, information management and systems engineering professional communities, including application of Agile principles • Deliver design documentation and reports, and ensure that the technical solution meets appropriate security, information and engineering standards. • Engage and manage diverse internal and external stakeholder communities. • Undertake technical design and decision making as a Subject Matter Expert. Particular Skills and Experience Required (dependent on project) • Design, development and verification of secure IT systems • Knowledge of multi level security and protective monitoring • Experience of Virtualisation and Microsoft Server • Experience of routing and firewalls • Information, data and message flows; interfaces and analytics • Secure network components, system design and configuration • Application of Systems Engineering approach through technical delivery lifecycle • Solution design and development; analytical, logical and systems thinking skills • Planning for integration, test, certification, trials and acceptance • Developing outputs for customers; identifying and responding to customer needs • Experience of / interest in application of Agile principles Key Accountabilities 1.
