Overview

Looking for a clinical Technologist with the following experience and background Relevant degree qualification in healthcare science or similar Sufficient post graduate experience and development to enable registration with the Register of Clinical Technologists Evidence of sufficient ongoing CPD to ensure RCT registration remains compliant HCPC registered Experience of stock take practices and management of stock Knowledge of a variety of wheelchair mounting solutions and the ability to fit components effectively Understanding of risk assessment with regard to wheelchair mounting Experience of working within MHRA guidelines with regard to medical device management Proficient knowledge and skills in electronic engineering, including the ability to practically implement solutions Excellent written and oral skills for communicating technical processes and clinical practice to therapists within the Trust and referring external practitioners regionally. Current UK Driving Licence Main Duties & Responsibilities Equipment management Responsible for all BCAS equipment being in good working order and compliant with national and Trust guidelines Ensure that departmental standards regarding equipment management and PPM procedures remain compliant including auditing the use of these procedures Develop and update departmental repair policies and procedures Analyse and assess the clinical options and scenarios to ensure that cost effective solutions are adopted with regards to sourcing new equipment and managing repairs from a wide range of options Liaise with all service stake holders (eg patients, carers & families, local professionals, suppliers) in relation to equipment management issues Communicate remotely (ie not face-to-face) with service users complex technical processes in a manner which can be easily understood or where there are barriers to understanding Coordinate procurement of required equipment across both patient provision and departmental assessment equipment Coordinate ongoing process of stock management and the associated reporting ensuring efficient stock control delivery. Clinical component Support BCAS Occupational Therapists in the running of mounting clinics and advise on bespoke mounting solutions Participate in switch access clinics to ensure that wiring of switches are practical and compliant with guidelines Work with third parties to develop bespoke mounting solutions Lead in integrated access clinics with patients, Occupational Therapists and suppliers Lead in the identification of appropriate integrated power sources Work with both BCAS team and Environmental Control team to ensure that integration of equipment is achieved where possible Lead in researching and analysing of new equipment in relation to AAC device peripheries and mounting solutions Ensuring that complex clinical decisions are well evidenced and communicated clearly to service users Communicate sensitive feedback following clinical assessments which some service users may find distressing or may require particular tact in delivering the messages Advise clinical team of hardware adaptions/solutions to achieve efficiency in the use of loaned aids- eg power saving settings etc
