POSITION: Support Worker/Senior SALARY: £23,180 / £25,680after completed probation rising too £24,180 / £26,680 (probation period lasting a total of 6 months) BENEFITS: Company Pension, 28 days annual leave, Free on-site parking and comfortable sleeping-in facilities. Induction and career opportunities HOURS: 40-hour week to include evening and weekend shifts LOCATION: RH13 0RQ DESCRIPTION: Our client currently has four residential homes in Surrey and West Sussex. Each home is set in a rural location and offers a comfortable homely environment for young males aged 13-18 years. Due to the company expanding its services, it is now looking for an experienced Residential Support Worker/Senior Support Worker to join the team. JOB ROLE (not limited to): To support and encourage the young people to participate in decision making and planning. To participate in and encourage house and outside sporting activities with the young people. To work 40 hours a week plus one sleep-in. In times of illness or crisis you may be asked to cover more shifts. To promote the welfare of the children as defined in the Children Act 1989 (HMSO). To attend staff meetings / supervision for 1½ hours on a weekly basis even when not on shift. To participate in training as required, and to contribute to your own professional development by keeping up to date of national developments in childcare policies and practice. To participate in the young people’s group therapy, working alongside the group therapist, in blocks of 4 or 5 weeks. To make sure that young people and staff are kept safe and secure whilst out among the public. To arrive in plenty of time to begin shift, read the handover book, and to receive information in handover from the out-going staff team regarding any events and the individual young people. The senior support worker will be accountable for any decision made in regard to the welfare of the young people and staff members during the shifts that you lead THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: Hold NVQ Diploma level 3 in children’s workforce or working towards one. Previous experience of working with young people. The senior support worker will have experience of managing a small team of staff. Good verbal and written communication skills. A driving licence and access to a car would be beneficial, as the homes are in a rural location. Be able to adhere to all company policy and health and safety. Be flexible to work at weekends and evenings. Live within a commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK.
