Computershare recently acquired a leading European employee share plan business with an innovative range of client solutions. We are now making a long-term investment to enhance these applications and migrate Computershare’s existing and new clients onto the platform. You will work within our cross-functional agile teams and be involved throughout the full development lifecycle from requirements elicitation to the delivery of high-quality solutions. Our development team in Edinburgh will be formed of existing staff with bags of knowledge of our domain and new employees who will bring additional technology expertise and experience. Your role As an Oracle Developer, you will work within a cross-functional team to deliver new capabilities across a portfolio of applications and supporting frameworks. You will work with employees across the globe to design, build and deploy high quality solutions that deliver value. We are looking for you to be a champion in coding standards, sharing knowledge with peers and coming up with innovative ideas to support improvements in technologies and practices. Required Experience Apply knowledge and expertise to design, build, test and deploy database solutions for applications and underlying frameworks to deliver business value, meet stakeholder expectations and avoid creating technical debt. Use knowledge of industry standards, policies, best practice and organisational structure so that you can work both independently and collaboratively within your team and with key stakeholders. Provide guidance and share knowledge with colleagues to enable them to contribute to the team’s objectives. Ensure the quality of tasks, services and information provided by your team – through the quality of your own work and the support you provide to others - to help your team deliver high-quality, maintainable software which adheres to internal standards and policies. Support the evaluation and resolution of technical challenges and blockers to minimise their impact on the team’s delivery and/or supported products. Embrace and support improvements and innovation in technologies/practices within your team that would benefit the business e.g. efficiency in the software development process or improved customer experience. Communicate effectively with a variety of technical and non-technical audiences to: share knowledge and ideas; provide updates; influence; challenge; and take on feedback. Experience and Competencies Experience of designing and implementing database solutions – Oracle and PL/SQL - including data definition, complex queries and performance tuning. Experience of query analysis and optimisation. Experience of managing day-to-day operations of database environments within development. Exposure to Java development desirable but not essential. Experience in an Agile or DevOps environment, embracing the adoption of practices including (but not limited to) automation, continuous integration and continuous delivery. Understands and is committed to the principles of software craftsmanship and clean code. Experience of financial services share registry or employee share plans is desirable.
