Overview

Spire Murrayfield – located in Edinburgh is looking for a Theatre Nurse to join our well established theatre team. This role is based across both of our Edinburgh Hospital sites within a supportive and knowledgeable department. Our team cover a whole range of surgery including major orthopedics, ophthalmology and procedures within our JAG accredited Endoscopy suite. We prefer our theatre staff to be as multi-skilled as possible, so ideally you will be able to work across Scrub, Anaesthetics and/or Recovery However, many of our staff specialise in just one or two areas; therefore we would also welcome applicants who are willing to learn new procedures and techniques under expert supervision and support. Murrayfield hospital was established as a purpose built hospital in 1984, conveniently located in the west of Edinburgh. In 2015 our consulting rooms had a £1 million refurbishment. In 2010 we opened Shawfair Park Hospital, a day case facility, based in south east Edinburgh. Each of our hospitals practice some of the most advanced treatments supported by the latest generation imaging and diagnostic technology. This means we offer everything from screening and rehabilitation through to leading edge surgical procedures and cancer care. Caring for our patients is at the heart of what we do. We provide expert medical care in a modern, well-equipped environment for all of our patients Duties and responsibilities The working hours for this role will be 3 x 12 Hour shifts per week, which will include an on-call night shift, for which you will receive a shift enhancement. You will be responsible for the preparation of operating theatres/anaesthetic rooms/endoscopy suites for surgery in relation to instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Anaesthetic Nurses are also responsible for ensuring all necessary and emergency equipment is available and in working order. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with audits when required. Who we're looking for Ideally you will be a HCPC / NMC registered Nurse, who has a proven understanding of Scrub roles and Theatre Nursing requirements. We welcome applications from candidates who either have experience or a keen interest in Theatres. The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience of collaborative working relationships, coupled with excellent planning and organisation skills. The Post –Holder must possess an Advanced Life support certificate or have a willingness to attend a course that we can arrange for you.
