Senior Ruby Engineer // £70,000 - £100,000 // Notting Hill, West London Pre-IPO start-up, building genuinely Greenfield platforms from the ground up, MVP through to the final product - Clean Codebase, TDD practice and latest Cloud Orchestration - Kubernetes/AWS. This start-up is a prominent figure in the Fintech and InsurTech communities, gaining Series A recently and signing partnerships with clients like HSBC and Starling Bank. The objective for the company is now to build new features and applications on the backend with Ruby, meeting client demand. The environment is ripe for experimentation and you’ll be almost the right-hand engineer to the CTO in guiding the vision. You’ll be working with DevOps and Frontend teams in building Proof of Concepts and MVPs in a Hackathon style environment. Focus is on clean codebase and scalability, to ensure this new platform is resilient enough to continue innovating. The CTO is looking for a Ruby Engineer to help him build new functionality; with their new clients they need a secure API to hold in place the security protocols of their financial data. You’ll be building TDD focused and deploying to latest Cloud and Container tools like AWS (EC2/RDS) and Kubernetes/Docker - ensuring that automation is key. You will need: Experience building platforms at scale in Ruby Understanding of start-ups and their requirements, able to work Agile and quick Best practice mindset - TDD / BDD / SOLID Knowledge of modern Cloud and Container tools like AWS / Docker / Kubernetes Able to produce code with CI/CD methods - Jenkins / Ansible Ability to own the build, deployment and release of your code straight through to production Influence the architectural direction both individually and within a team Scale the resilience, reliability and vision of the platform Drive best practice, whether it is advising on how best to migrate or guiding other users Build open-source tools within a team dedicated to experimentation Core Technical Stack within the company: Ruby, Rails, ReactJS, JavaScript, Redux, Microservices, AWS, S3, RDS, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, CI/CD, TDD/BDD, Git
