JS241 – Technical Services Manager Location: Hemel Hempstead Salary: £ Competitive Benefits First Military Executive Recruitment are pleased to be recruiting for a Technical Services Manager for an expanding business who are still recruiting during this challenging time. Reporting to the Associate Director of engineering, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the Data Centre facilities technical and operational teams. Working alongside Data Centre Managers the successful candidate will provide technical solutions to problems and assist in closing these out in a timely and professional manner. The Technical Services Manager, you will be the general technical expert for all electrical, mechanical, life safety and controls systems and will provide guidance and training to operational teams who operate the facilities. You will work closely with the Technical Department to ensure policy and procedure set by them are adhered to by the site operational team. Duties and Responsibilities : Assist the operational teams with technical problem solving and assist in the management of specialist contractors to fix technical issues in a timely and professional manner whilst managing our customers’ expectations. Be a High Voltage Authorised Person (HVAP) or (LVAP) or relevant experience for several facilities to support critical maintenance, repairs or projects (The site operational teams will lead with support from you). Consistently deliver clear concise briefing of technical issues to non/less technical colleagues and customers. Show commitment to the highest professional engineering values and standards, policies and procedures set by the Technical Department. Understand how to innovate and encourages creativity and positive change. Perform the role of Incident Manager - You will own the process whilst the Operational Teams will manage the incidents on site with guidance from you. You will write and submit the incident reports in a timely manner. Responsible for identifying the root cause following each incident and ensure positive steps are proposed to mitigate similar risk across the organisation. Obtain an in-depth technical knowledge of each facility covering electrical, mechanical, life safety and control systems within a reasonable period. Provide training and support to the Critical Facilities Maintenance teams to enhance their technical understanding of the facilities. Work closely with other group companies to ensure application and implementation of relevant standards, processes and procedures are consistent. Drive and maintains technical compliance, statutory and mandatory audits covering both internal and our specialist supply partners. Create, drive, maintain and plan site scenario training. Work alongside customers and Directors when required. Work very closely with all Departments and provide support as and when required. Any other duties deemed necessary for the smooth running of the Company. Skills & Experience: A minimum of 5 years in Datacentre/Critical facilities technical management roles. Excellent working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, life safety and control systems within critical facilities/data centres. Theoretical knowledge to solve problems in developed technologies using well proven analytical techniques. Excellent interpersonal skills and possess and the ability to build and maintain good working relationships and communicate effectively at all levels. Proven track record of managing activities to meet deadlines and quality standards taking account of impact outside area of responsibility. HNC or HND in a specific discipline. Contractual or indentured apprenticeship. Electrical HV & LV authorised person (advantageous). Have or be in the position to qualify for CEng or IEng. Highly competent in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) and related tools such as SharePoint. To possess a full clean driving licence valid for use in the UK.
