The public sector client is looking to recruit a Senior Scientist for a 6/7 month temporary contract based in Gosport. The successful Senior Scientist will have the relevant skills and experience specified below. The successful Senior Scientist will have a valid SC Clearance. Please Note : This assignment sits inside of IR35. Due to the nature of this assignment the client will accept UK Nationals for this assignment. If your Cv is selected for interview the interview will be conducted by Skype. Job Description: To plan scientific or technical projects to define a part of the research and development programme. To lead and carry out research and development to deliver agreed project outputs which significantly improve systems, products or advice. To lead the presentation and publication/documentation of work internally and externally in order to communicate advice and/or maintain scientific/technical capability and integrity and to promote reputation. To train and support staff both within their team and more widely to enhance scientific/technical capability. To manage the scientific or technical research projects to improve systems or products. Minimum Requirement: Nuclear watch keeper – this is the job title they need to have had within Navy They will be teaching the new nuclear watch keeper Experience is more important Full British nationals only- RESERVED POST Security Clearance: SC You will be expected to lecture in nuclear engineering and science with emphasis on Nuclear Propulsion Programme safety management, nuclear system maintenance and administration. • Explain the science and engineering principles of Naval Reactor Plant design that support safe and effective operation. • Explain how the Naval nuclear propulsion plant programme is managed in order to meet the relevant requirements and implement good practice. • Explain the science and engineering principles of nuclear infrastructure design that support safe and effective nuclear activities. • Use appropriate knowledge to explain how the Naval Reactor Plant works and how it interfaces with the holistic design of a submarine and how it interfaces with its support infrastructure. • Describe the Defence Nuclear Programme’s nuclear safety governance arrangements and reporting structures. • Explain the principles of the fundamentals of Nuclear Regulation and relevant good practice in the fields of nuclear safety and security. • How Naval reactor plant systems, components and infrastructure are supported and managed whilst in-service. • Describe How the Defence Nuclear Programme manages its defence nuclear material and irradiated fuel, including decommissioning and disposal. • Design the optimal structure to communicate technical subject matter. • Deliver stimulating, authoritative and engaging education in technical areas responding promptly to student feedback. To participate in the design, development, execution and assessment of courses in Nuclear Submarine Propulsion Systems, conducted by Nuclear Faculty; To design, supervise and assess student projects.
