Graduate Teaching Assistant Join a friendly EAL department in a highly successful secondary school A lovely secondary school in Harrow is seeking to appoint a dedicated, motivated and hard-working graduate to join their friendly EAL department to provide essential support to students whose first language is not English. Are you a recent graduate of English or a Humanities subject or are you graduating this summer? Do you have a passion for working with young people and do you have the patience and motivation to guide learners through their learning? Are you a team-player and would you benefit from the opportunity to join a close-knit team? Key Responsibilities: To support SEN and / or EAL pupils in the class room and/or in 1:1 or small withdrawal groups. Run small withdrawal groups teaching literacy and phonics to new EAL pupils. To teach, plan and assess lessons for functional skills in English to EAL pupils/SEN pupils. To work directly with the EAL coordinator / class teacher to organise, manage and provide appropriate support for pupil learning. To work closely with individual departments to support students on the EAL/SEN register. About you: Ideally, you will be a recent graduate or graduating this summer in English or a Humanities subject and you will have experience working with the community / young people who have English as an additional language. However, applicants from a range of disciplines and backgrounds will be considered. The key factor will be that you are genuinely interested in working with young people and are looking for a long-term position in a secondary school, where in return, you will receive training, support and development.
