This is a special role, working in a special organisation. A key player in the Leeds tech scene they are led by two of the most passionate entrepreneurs you could wish to meet. They have built an organisation built on technical excellence, knowledge and an approach that puts their team at the heart of everything they do. It really is a family feel in this organisation but with the approach that they want to dominate their market. As an Engineering Manager you will lead a team of 6-8 talented Engineers of different open source languages including Java, Python, Golang, Scala and Node.js. Your background will be in one of these languages, but you're now interested in how you can develop others to be the best they can be, whilst still keeping your skills current. A rough split on the role is 30% hands on, 70% leadership. As a leader you will be responsible for embedding best-practices into software engineering, looking at ways to drive efficiency and embedding Agile best practices. You will also be a leader who can get the best out of their team - generating a positive working culture, raising standards and ensuring everyone is the best they can be. Your role will also work with the Senior leadership team and ultimately contribute to making the business the best possible version it can be. It is likely you're currently a Team/Practice Lead looking for a dedicated management role, or an Engineering/Development Manager looking for something far more interesting and rewarding.
